I gave my notice today to my landlord. I'll be checking out of Toronto by September 1st.

Why am I scared?

Because this makes it real. You're about to start a new phase of your life.
It's a good thing.

I cancel my dibs. Mel ruined it for me. :/

The reason that you are scared is a lot of things really:

1) You've met an awesome girl in Melanie whom you love deeply and are worried that if you wind up leaving her in Toronto and moving on, you will not find another woman like her anywhere else, only to return to Toronto to get her back...only to find that the moment has passed and she is gone. That's the super-sad Oscar-award winning plot option.

2) You are unsure as to the future, and where to go from here. You have tackled Vancouver, and sampled everything it has to offer. You have done the same with Toronto. Your compass has not yet been set on the next target in your life, the next experience. In addition, by severing ties with the NDP (a party that you gave a lot of time to that you feel did not reward you in return for your loyalty), you are burned out and unable to plan, instead choosing to recharge your batteries for the next challenge (which also makes sense considering your recent surgery).

Those are my theories...I would say to refocus you must first meditate, and then you will find peace and direction therein.
