So I had this little plastic toy thing on my desk. It was a solar-powered, head-bobbing, smiley face and yesterday morning, it was missing from it's usual place. I asked around, looked under stuff, some people even made up "MISSING" posters but alas, no, my little friend is gone.

I suppose it's the inevitable result of your company growing: the level of trust available diminishes. Now I'll have to build a "lock up all my shit" step into my leaving the office routine. It's a shame really.

Yeah, once someone broke my expensive headphones and hadn't owned up to doing so. Which was was a bummer.

you don't have kids running around the office do you? i know sometimes kids tend to take things from ppl's desk that don't belong to them. i'm thinking maybe someone brought in their kid after work or something like that

It is a very sad day when something of yours gets removed or taken from your workspace.

Second to your domicile, your workspace is supposed to be your home. When someone steps into it and touches or removes even the smallest thing, you feel violated.

What you need to do is put some kind of pressure detector on your desk, load your special toys onto it, and and rig it to a sound box with the entire thing powered by a couple of rechargeable AA batteries. Turn on the pad when you head home for the night, and if someone picks up something from your desk when the pad is on, the sound of your voice asking them to put it back will get you the respect of your workspace that you deserve.

Just an idea.
