The prisoners were all labelled, either by tags on their clothing, or later, brands on their skin. Each was labelled according to the class to which the Nazis felt they belonged: political prisoners, Jews, roma, soviets, homosexuals, jehova's witnesses, criminals, and "anti-socials".
