The slogan of Madrid is "We are built over water, with walls of fire".

The story goes that Madrid, like many cities around the world, was built over a river, and back when the Muslims were living here, they were smart enough to erect a wall around the city. They made use of local materials, including flint in the construction, which sparked with fire when enemies would attack it with mettalic weapons. Back then, it would have appeared to be magic.
