Is this similar to Kazaa? Or closer to Bittorrent? Any comparisons?

it's better than kazaa 'cause it's actually free. user supported, they ask that those who can afford it contribute $5 to the project. there's no ad/spy/etc -ware involved and... THERE'S A LINUX CLIENT! sweet ass. basically it does everything kazaa does except swarm downloading, which kinda sucks. but the speeds i've been getting are great and the files available are awesome.

bittorrent isn't really like anything out there. it's great for downloading big, popular files, but not so much for slews of obscure mp3s. so i wouldn't abandon it yet. but check out soulseek. at the very least, it's yet another place to go if kazaa gets into hot water or you get sick of addware/spyware/trojanware etc. etc.
