i was looking at "linny" today, the penguin that noreen bought for me when she came out to visit and i thought: that name doesn't really fit. i mean, he's purple, like the mandrake penguin, so he should have a name related to that. but "mandrake the penguin"? no, that's just not right. then i thought about the term "mandrake"... what the hell is it anyway? the only reference to the word outside of the linux world i could recall was from harry potter's screaming mandrake root. and so, behold: "potato the penguin".

you should give merr some credit; i think she picked out "POTATO" after lining up all the penguins in a row to choose the happiest/neurotic/cleanest looking one.

POTATO? geez, only you would name a penguin something like that! i knew it ... and what a name!!! next thing we know, you're going to call your computers something like "carrots" or "lettuce" or "beets" - are you hungry or something?

actually, my computers all called "fightclub" (firewall), "empirerecords" (webserver hosting this site and fileserver), "moulinrouge" (desktop) and "pirates" (of the carribean... for my windows box that does little more than run soulseek.... but not anymore! i have a linux version!).
