My mother sent me this personality test today asking me to use it to learn more about myself. Based loosly on the Myers-Briggs test, it was pretty short so I did it as a break from my day. As it turns out, I did a similar test years ago where I scored INFJ, but this time through though I scored differently:

INTJ
Introverted (I) 75%Extraverted (E) 25%
Intuitive (N) 64%Sensing (S) 36%
Thinking (T) 65%Feeling (F) 35%
Judging (J) 59%Perceiving (P) 41%

Looks like I've gotten colder with age :-)

By the way, that's my friend Sonja's website you got that from. How's that for random?

Well that's neat. I'll have to let my mom know.

I actually know Sonja too.

I usually come out 50/50 on E/I and pretty close to the center on everything but N/S--I'm always N. This time I was INFP, but ENFP and ENFJ happen about as often when I do these tests. Apparently I contain multitudes. :)

Your personality type is ENFP.

Extraverted (E) 50% -- Introverted (I) 50%
Intuitive (N) 68% -- Sensing (S) 32%
Feeling (F) 85% -- Thinking (T) 15%
Perceiving (P) 77% -- Judging (J) 23%

I am almost the direct opposite of you.

Also, believe it or not, I know Sonja too, sort of. I met her on the subway one day and exchanged livejournal info with her. I kind of think Sonja knows everyone in Toronto.

I just took the test. I'm still the same as I was before except for the percentages. I'm not at all surprised by the results. Judging...hmmm...am I really THAT critical?

Your personality type is ISTJ.

Introverted (I) 86% Extraverted (E) 14%
Sensing (S) 55% Intuitive (N) 45%
Thinking (T) 50% Feeling (F) 50%
Judging (J) 82% Perceiving (P) 18%

Me:

Your personality type is INFP.

Introverted (I) 71% Extraverted (E) 29%
Intuitive (N) 68% Sensing (S) 32%
Feeling (F) 75% Thinking (T) 25%
Perceiving (P) 77% Judging (J) 23%

Additional research mentions Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes is an INFP too. As far as I'm concerned, that puts me in good company. :)

PS: I don't know Sonja, but it sounds like she's an E-something...

I pretty much bounce between INFP and ENFP. *shrug* The thing that I love about this test is that it speaks to our preferences or our primary/dominant approach. The think I hate about this test is that it speaks to our preferences or our primary/dominant approach. *laugh* In other words, it speaks to how we first approach something but doesn't come anywhere close to describing our abilities. For instance, I'm probably one of the most touchy-feely-emotional people I've ever met and I can pretty much "out logic" most people I know by virtue of having a philosophy degree. Though, I admit, my emotions so completely inform where my logic goes....

*shrug*

c'est la vie

i'm still an ESTJ... various tests give different percentages, but all with the same answer.

my old boss told me this is why she thought i'd make a good night shift tech, since i'm working on my own... apparently ESTJs work better on their own.

my personal opinion on the intuitive-sensor scale is that there is a fine line here... intuition is often observing (or sensing) things on a more subconscious level. maybe the difference is how much you're aware of what information you're receiving?

The actual Meyers-Briggs type indicator tests are statistically correlated with actual human interviews to ensure significance.

It also helps to have an MBTI-trained professional facilitating the test and helping to interpret/expand on the results. Things make much more sense that way! (I found a much better "fit" from the actual test than from any previous online thingie.) :)

Yes, everyone in Toronto knows Sonja, but Dan's mom coming across her site is pretty random.

Oh, btw, every time I do versions these tests the E and I switch back and forth. The other letters are always NFP.

They say INTJ is the least common type but pretty much like two thirds of my friends end up posting blog entries at some point about how they are that type. I find that peculiar. Also, I think INTJs really like people to know they are INTJs. :P

I'm an INFJ, and I never would have tagged you for a strong F anyway, so INTJ seems a better fit for you.

Angela Day

And actually INFJs are the least common type, with estimates between 1-3% (though most "official" MBTI literature puts INFJs well below 3%).

You're all wrong. Wikipedia says that ENTJ is the rarest... at least in the United states :-P

Lara
12 Feb 2009, 5:18 p.m.  |

I was going solely on the fact that my INTJ friends always mention that INTJ is the rarest type.

I would expect ENTJ to be a pretty uncommon type, yes. Seems almost like you'd have to have a split personality.

I actually find the tests rather overly divisive .. I find a lot of the questions very difficult to answer because I often find that more than one response applies equally.

Daniel

I think that that's what Poesy was saying too. The questions often present options that seem equally acceptable or with others placed only slightly more accurate in your head and that this should send the results into question. I think that with an "official" test, there's likely more questions so the margin for error is probably smaller in that case. Also, for those who care, this is comment 11111 in my database :-)

My personality type was ESFP.

Extraverted (E) 64% Introverted (I) 36%
Sensing (S) 55% Intuitive (N) 45%
Feeling (F) 55% Thinking (T) 45%
Perceiving (P) 64% Judging (J) 36%

It was a good spin....I agree with comment 1111.

Buntham
13 Feb 2009, 3:23 a.m.  |

Buntham's personality type was INTJ.

Introverted (I) 79% Extraverted (E) 21%
Intuitive (N) 59% Sensing (S) 41%
Thinking (T) 65% Feeling (F) 35%
Judging (J) 73% Perceiving (P) 27%

So Mr ESFP and Mrs INTJ have been married 20 years .....please explain?

So I'm almost Dan:

Your personality type is INTJ.
Introverted (I) 75% Extraverted (E) 25%
Intuitive (N) 64% Sensing (S) 36%
Thinking (T) 55% Feeling (F) 45%
Judging (J) 64% Perceiving (P) 36%

Ha! I suppose that that explains why we get along so well :-)

Angela Day
17 Feb 2009, 2:40 p.m.  |

According to Wikipedia:

ENTJ = 1.8, and INFJ = 1.5
Since 1.5 < 1.8, INFJ < ENTJ
Therefore INFJ is the rarest Myers-Briggs type.
