Blog /A Birthday Abdication

June 10, 2009 22:02 +0000  |  Fun Stuff 14

My mother had a great idea the other day and as I generally like great ideas, I'm going to go with this one.

Here's the thing, I'm turning 30 (that's three-oh (gasp!)) on the 25th of this month and I wanna have a party. This is the occasion for such things right? Trish was suggesting a dinner shindig in a Korean restaurant on Robson, and knowing Melanie she'd probably like to have something with bubbles :-) For my part, I just want my friends to be there 'cause I like my friends and as busy as we all are (especially me) I don't get to see you all nearly often enough.

Now, the great idea is that being that it's my 30th birthday, someone with some time on their hands can make me the fabulously awesome gift of organising the aforementioned party (or parties if you're feeling ambitious) for me. I'm terrible at this sort of thing and it's always nice when someone does the heavy lifting for something you're totally unqualified to do yourself. So, any takers?

Hmm... why is it that I can feel you totally looking at me when you wrote that last sentence?

Ok fine, how many people, give me all their emails, their phone numbers, residential and work addresses, what they look like, their nicknames, their MSN/Twitter/Facebook/whatevers and their pets' names!!!! X___X

I'll be at the Planetarium until 6pm on the 27th (Sat) for the Can't Stop the Serenity screening which I still think you should totally come to Dan & Melanie! They're showing Serenity, Dr. Horrible & Commentary! The Musical! on a nice big screen & Suze and Nic are coming. I'm free after that, and took the 28th (Sun) off in anticipation of some sort of birthday shindig.

I'd offer to plan something, but I know nothing of Korean restaurants in Vancouver. *g*

Noreen, e- or facebook me and maybe I can help you out with implementing a plan for the bubbles aspect of those above guidelines.

Dammit... I wasn't logged in.
That was ME.
Honest.
Please approve my stupid post so that I don't have to try to figure out what I said and retype it all.

I always like a pub and a date and time. Easy, and no fuss. (No offence to the ladies that want to plan the party)

I'm on vacation that week though (in the US). Otherwise, a trip to BC would be on the list for your B-day. I will talk to you closer to the big event.

I'll organize in Toronto, but somehow I don't think you'll be here....

Thank you so much guys for offering to do all of this. You should talk to Trish who has her own ideas as well. She was sending me some rather enthusiastic text messages last night regarding my birthday.

Also, Sheena and Stephen, you are awesome :-)

I actually looked into flying out, but sorry best I could do was $500 on WestJet return, just a tad too much for my budget.

Stephen: thanks for the thought dude, but I'd never ask you to spend that kind of money. I hope you'll wait for a seat sale though :-)

Melanie: I know! I'm so super-lucky.
