Apparently, when Fredrich the Great conquered a bunch of Christians (I can't remember whether they were Protestants or Catholics, but whomever they were, Fredrich's empire was the opposite), Fredrich built a church for them in his capital as a token for them.

Later however, the local Christians got a bit bitter about it, so they had their own church built... directly across the square from the original and they look the same.

Sandwiched between them is an old theatre that was originally made of wood, but burned to the ground. It was later rebuilt in stone :-)
