You should see if there's an "Equality Now" Screening in your area (I'm pretty sure there is...) It's a screening of Serenity on the big screen next Saturday (23rd) all proceeds going towards Joss' Equality Now.

after reading some of the comments on that page, what really makes me sad is that it doesn't seem like people really care beyond the fact that it was Joss Whedon speaking out. Like if it had been some schmoe who wrote a big long rant, people would have read it and moved on but OMG IT'S JOSS WHEDON so it must be cool.

I don't disagree with what he said. in fact I think he gets it a lot better than most people do. but somehow knowing that he has this understanding only highlights how many people do not. it makes me sadder. because as far as we - as women, and as human beings - have come, there's still so much further to go.

Equality Now's official website says "Equality Now works to end violence and discrimination against women and girls around the world through the mobilization of public pressure."
