ever have one of those days when you feel like you're just on the edge of being able to hear the thoughts of everyone around you? for me, yesterday was one of those days. this is not to be confused with that general vibe i get from people normally. i mean, in most cases, i can feel what others are feeling, get on the subway and know in a personal sense how others are feeling about their day. but this time was different. it's like i could hear a low background noise trickling in from everyone around me. it only lasted a few minutes, but it was both eerie and fascinating.

and no, i don't think i'm losing my mind.

jeong-yeon graduates today with a bachelor of music -- i've even been invited to her recital. this degree is the result of years of hard work and natural talent, so congratulations there chickie, you deserve it.

"Canada: our number one enemy in alphabetical order."
this has got to be the most brilliant news show ever on television. on mondays at 8pm local time, the monday report really is worth 30minutes of your time as not a week goes by that this show doesn't get a couple big belly laughs out of me. wrought with political humour like the snippet above from a mock george bush commercial i can't reccomend this show enough. mondays @8pm on cbc.

for those of you haven't read what joss whedon, the creator of (unless there's a miracle, the soon to be cancelled) angel posted online yet:

Two roads diverged in a wood,
and I took the road less traveled by
and they CANCELLED MY FRIKKIN' SHOW.
I totally shoulda took the road
that had all those people on it.
Damn.

note the use of "and" and not "of" in the subject line. my first link here is for the photography site of Declan McCullagh. i subscribe to a mailing list he moderates called politech, a list for news articles that are related to politics and/or technology -- sometimes a very interesting read. anyway, he's a professional photographer and publishes a great many of his pics online here, which is where i found some really nice pics of san francisco at night.

the second link i have here isn't nearly as pleasant. the chinese government has seen fit to accidentally dump chemical pollutants into a river that is the only useable water source for 1million chinese citizens. more information on this ecological mess can be found here. just a wandering thought here but, why hasn't civil unrest and terrorism erupted in that country? why haven't the citizens started blowing up government buildings? is it a cultural thing? or does the government just have too much control there?

if you log in (it's not hard. click 'login' on the left there, enter your username and password and you're good to go) you'll notice the new user preferences option on the left just above 'logout". check it out. at the moment, it's not all that impressive, but i plan to have more stuff there eventually. for now though you have two options:

easier reading: select this option to enlarge the text and raise the contrast.
swear filter: set to "on" by default to keep my grandmother from getting mad at me ;-)

so yeah. that's it. i SO have to go to bed.

interesting site. good concept. the cd features artists like ani difranco, sarah harmer and the bare naked ladies and all proceeds from the sale of the disc go to helping various activist charities here in Canada, the United states, and italy.

more details can be found here.
