memories of an email eulogy
  • Favourite

in reference to my previous post, i wanted to post something quinn wrote years and years ago, back when dave 1.0 "died" giving way to "new dave" who had decided that non-christian ways are not his ways. it hit a lot of us hard, myself as well. but in an effort to both alleviate our pain and possibly tie it all together, quinn penned this eulogy and sent it to the lot of us. for some reason, it helped me to read it just now:

Greetings, to those who read this e-mail...

I would like to send my heartfelt condolences upon hearing of the passing of one of my best friends, David Alexander (aka: "Zeus"). I will miss my friend and the things that we did together, such as bowling and late-night satellite surfing, and the all-night talks about politics, pussy, and everything in between. I will definitely miss hearing about my friend and his adventures in life as I have grown over time to enjoy his stories.

I was extremely saddened to hear of how he ceased to exist, choosing to take his own life instead of trying to balance everything he did and all of his friends as well. Whenever I watch Star Trek now, I will get a little bit sad because I'll be remembering my friend and his love for the show, and the picture he used to have and so proudly displayed of him and the rest of the Away Team. I will miss the Lego sculptures and his outlook on life.

I will miss you my friend...salut.

I'll see you again someday...I hope.

every once in a while, i google for him, hoping to find out what's going on in his life. but there's an awful lot of david alexander's out there. truth be told though, i'm not sure i'd want to see him again. "new dave" was so unlike the dave i came to know, i have no kinship with that person. ...but i'd still like to know how he's doing.

a big thanks goes to jeanie for recovering this from her aging computer. thanks a lot chickie
